Electronic properties of oxide heterostructures

Topics:

determination of electronic properties of novel materials based on artificially grown oxide heterostructures of transition metal oxides (cuprates, magnanites, nickelates, cromates, titanites...). properties of conducting charge carriers, 2D electron gas, structure of electronic orbitals (energies, anisotropy due to orbital order)
Figure: Berreman mode and profile of charge concentration at the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interface determined from mid-infrared ellipsometry [1].

Tools:

low temperature (4-300K) optical spectroscopy and ellipsometry from far-infrared range (0.01eV) up to the UV (6.5) eV. Equippment: custom designed chamber for far-infrared ellipsometry and reflection/transmission Woollam VASE ellipsometer for NIR-UV range Woolam IR-VASE ellipsometer for MIR range closed cycle He cryostat 4-300 K
