History of the institute (and department)
- January 2007: English name of the institute has been changed from the Institute of Condensed Matter Physics to the Department of Condensed Matter Physics. (New faculty rules unifying English names of all departments.)
- July 2006: We have moved into reconstruced building nb 9. We hope to stay there "forever".
- January 2005–July 2006: Reconstruction of the physics building at the faculty area. Our institute moved to a temporary location in Řečkovice for one year, then into another building in Kotlářská for half a year.
- September 2000: The Department of Solid State Physics and the Laboratory of Thin Films and Nanostructures were unified into the current Ústav fyziky kondenzovaných látek (ÚFKL) – Department of Condensed Matter Physics (DCMP).
- Laboratory of Thin Films and Nanostructures was associated to the Department of Solid State Physics according to the grant VS 96102 by the Ministry of Education of Czech Republic from 1996 to 2000.
- Until year 2000, the institute was named Katedra fyziky pevné fáze (KFPF) – Department of Solid State Physics.
