Problems of thick heterostructures (morphology and luminescence consequences)

Abstrakt:

The technology of preparation of thick multiple quantum well (MQW) structures on sapphire substrates
and problems which limit the thickness of the active region will be introduced.
Increased V-pit size and strain will be discussed together with unexpected consequences to PL properties
of such structures. Our conclusions will be supported by comparison of PL measurements
with cathodoluminescence and SEM results. The influence of the structure thickness on homogeneity of PL
across the wafer will be demonstrated in place and explained.
