Dr. Alex Destrieux studied at the French Université de Toulouse. He focused on material engineering and finished his master's in plasma science and technologies. During his studies, he traveled to Denmark and Germany. For his PhD, he headed to Université Laval, Quebec, Canada, where he received his degree in March 2024.

The ongoing collaboration between Dr. Jakub Kelar and Prof. Jacopo Profili opened an opportunity for him to carry on his research here at the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology and CEPLANT. Dr. Alex Destrieux, together with Dr. Jakub Kelar, applied for a new project and received a MITACS Globalink grant.

Dr. Alex Destrieux will continue his work on atmospheric plasma treatment of organic materials for photovoltaics with the Plasma Nanotechnologies and Bioapplications research group till the end of December. He is focusing on using volume barrier discharges on semiconductive surfaces both for applications and for a fundamental understanding of the interaction of the discharge with those surfaces.

After his stay in Brno, he plans to join the research group at Univerzita Komenského v Bratislavě as a post-doc. His research there should focus on air treatment, pollutant decomposition, and plasma diagnostics.
