Špilberk Castle

Špilberk Castle has dominated the skyline of Brno. The visitors are to can take a walk through the casemates – dark grim rooms in the fortifications that used to serve as a recess of the soldiers and later as the prison cells. Villa Tugendhat

It is the only exemplar of Modern architecture in the Czech Republic recorded on the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage. The Villa of Greta and Fritz Tugendhat, designed by the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and built in 1929–1930, is a monument of modern architecture. It is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, more information and online tickets can be bought at http://www.tugendhat.eu/en/. Due to great interest in tours we recommend to book your visit at least 2–3 months in advance.

The 10-Z Nuclear Fallout Shelter

It had been built during the Nazi occupation as a civil defense shelter from American and Soviet bombardment of Brno. The excursion to technical facilities is led by experts, who try to adjust its content to the interests of a small group of visitors. Veveří Castle and Brno Reservoir

One of the most popular places is the Veveří Castle (visited repeatedely e.g. by W. Churchill), a romantic medieval residence above the lake surface.
