Francisco Javier Morales Calero - Atmospheric pressure microwave plasma discharges: fundamentals, nanostructures synthesis and material treatment

In recent years, microwave plasma technology has been drawing the attention of research and innovation due to their applications in many fields such as medical sterilization, 2D material synthesis, green hydrogen production or surfaces functionalization. Although most of these applications have been developed at low pressure, their implementation at atmospheric pressure would make these processes cheaper and operatively easier since no vacuum pumps are needed.

In this seminar, the achievement of scalable Graphene nanosheets production —one the most outstanding applications of Microwave Induced Plasmas— through atmospheric pressure plasma technology will be discussed as well as the use of these few layers nanosheets to improve the properties of metallic surfaces for their use in industrial processes.
