The plasma research at Ruhr University Bochum is a core discipline on campus and covers the complete range from astrophysical to technological plasmas.  In this presentation the
range of technological plasmas is adressed as being used for material synthesis employing high performance magnetron plasmas, for power-to-gas  applications in combination with
plasma catalysis employing atmospheric pressure plasmas, and for plasma-supported electrolysis and plasma medicine applications employing high pressure plasmas in liquids. In all
these cases, unique challenges in diagnostics and modelling are encountered.
