Stellar Flare Spectroscopy: New observations and models

We will briefly review the spectroscopic observations of flares occurring on cool dwarf stars and compare them with flare observations on the Sun. New observations have been recently obtained by Seimei 3.8m telescope and by middle-class telescopes at Ondrejov, Tautenburg and La Silla observatories. New photometric data also come from TESS satellite. Flare ribbons are modelled by radiation-hydrodynamical codes FLARIX and RADYN and we will briefly describe these methods. Finally, we will report on a new approach which takes into account also the radiative contribution of cool flare loops which are well resolved during solar flares.

Utilizing ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot in physics

We will introduce the background overview of the chatbot ChatGPT artificial intelligence and the GitHub copilot and showcase how they can enhance and speed up scientific work. We will show examples of how it can help with e.g. writing codes, learning about science, or even writing papers.

Determining the properties of cataclysmic variables

Cataclysmic variables (CVs) are semi-detached binariesconsisting of a white dwarf and a late-type secondary star. The secondary staroverfills its Roche lobe which leads to a transfer of mass between the twocomponents resulting in the formation of an accretion disk around the whitedwarf. The disk can fluctuate between states of low and high temperatures, depending on the strength of mass transfer. These fluctuations manifestthemself as brightening events called outbursts. Properties of CVs, includingthe properties of the accretion disks, can be studied by photometric andspectroscopic methods, which include light curve modelling of eclipses andDoppler tomography of time-resolved spectra. In my talk, I will demonstratethese techniques on several examples of CVs.

Tracing the molecular gas in jellyfish galaxies with ALMA and IRAM 30m Telescope

Ram pressure stripping, an important environmental process in galaxy clusters, shapes the star formation and gas content of galaxies within. We observed five Coma cluster jellyfish galaxies experiencing the ram pressure stripping with IRAM 30m telescope and ALMA interferometer to trace their molecular gas content and to shed more light on this crucial aspect of galaxy evolution.
