6:00 PM - lecture room F1, building 6, Kotlářská 2
Accept our invitation to the presentation of Ing. Jan Vaverka from the Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He will introduce the space industry and Czech ideas and products from private companies and scientific institutions that made it there.
The lecture will introduce the space industry in general and outline how physicists can contribute or be employed in this field. You will learn the goals of the space industry (Earth Observation, Space Observation, communication, and basic research), and how the projects are run under the standards of the space industry. Students may be particularly interested in what skill and knowledge is necessary for the needed employees. Ing. Vaverka will also outline the Czech Academy of Sciences' plans for space research from Earth and from Earth's orbit.
Ing. Jan Vaverka is a graduate of Brno Technical University (BUT) under the guidance of dr. Jiří Novák (from the Masaryk University, Faculty of Science MUNI, Department of Condensed Matter Physics). He also graduated from the Technical University in Liberec. He was employed as a development engineer at the Crytur Turnov company. Until last year, he was also a project manager of the SAB Aerospace company in Brno. SAB Aerospace is known for its contributions to the PLATO mission for exoplanet search. Currently, he works at the Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences as part of the gravity wave detector LISA team. He also teaches astronomy and enjoys the popularization of space research and activities.
