Dr. Jana Jurmanová - Electron microscopy is the future!
Will there be an electron microscope next to a computer in every household? Will we ask the microscope if ice cream is whipped smoothly? If there are pesticides or heavy metals on fruits or ask it to show us the image of pollen that caused our allergic reaction.
Is it sci-fi or a vision of a possible future? Even now, electron microscopes check the quality of manufactured microchips, the structure of concrete, the composition of cutting tool coatings, and a whole bunch of applications in industry and health care. Most high-end microscopes in renowned laboratories are capable of single atoms imaging. And the advancement in development continues.
To where does the future of electron microscopy leads? Dr. Jana Jurmanová will outline several of these paths as she was an attendant of the 16th Multinational Congress on Microscopy (16MCM), which was held at the beginning of September 2022 in Brno.
The lecture will be streaming online through MS Teams from lecture room F2, where you can attend personally and enjoy a cup of coffee. Click the blue button below for more information and a link to the online stream.
