Physics in Business 2025 – ČMI

We cordially invite you to the lecture in F5900 Physics in Business. The lecture is for the general public. Petr Klapetek will introduce the Czech Metrology institute.

The CMI ensures the uniformity and accuracy of measuring instruments and measurements in all fields of scientific, technical and economic activity in accordance with the law on Metrology. The Institute carries out metrological research and preserves state standards, ensures the transfer of measurement unit values to measuring instruments of lower accuracy, performs certification of reference materials, carries out state metrological control of measuring instruments and a number of other activities.

The speaker leads a nanometrology department addressing the problems of reliable characterization of surface properties at the nanoscale. It develops specialized equipment for microscopy (state nanometrology standard with interferometric system, SPM microscope with large range) and also widely used software (Gwyddion, Gsvit) for imaging, analysis and simulation.
