DPPT photo contest for the Picture of the Year 2024 has its winners
The Department of Plasma Physics and Technology announced a photo contest for The Picture of the Year 2024. Voting for winners of submitted pictures took place at the DPPT Facebook gallery. The contest winners are known. In first place is Sahand Behrangi with his picture from the scanning electron microscope!
The contest was open to anyone, but the submitted pictures had to be related to the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology or CEPLANT center. All of the contest rules and regulations can be found here. In the end, 9 pictures and photos were submitted. Winners are the following:
- Sahand Behrangi – TiN thin film
- Slavomír Sihelník – Discharge before quenching
- Waseem Khan – MMQTA

The installation of the DCSBD plasma device at the Fraunhofer Institute in Potsdam, Germany, is completed. The decision to reinstall the device was based on the positive outcomes from their earlier research. This collaboration is part of the R2R Net Consortium and was supported by Roplass, a spin-off from Masaryk University. The process was coordinated by Assoc. Anna Podmanická is a scientific talent of the Slovak Academy of Sciences
Anna Podmanická from the Jur Hronec highschool in Bratislava won several awards at this year's AMAVET 2024 Science and Technology Festival. She worked on her project with František Zažímal at the Department of Plasma Physics and Technology.
