Astrophysics of Stars and Interstellar Medium

Research group at Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics

No description

Leader: prof. Mgr. Jiří Krtička, Ph.D.

The group works on various research topics related to the physics of stars, their circumstellar medium, and multiple stellar systems in order to understand these basic building blocks of our Universe.
This requires understanding of different processes of interaction of light with stellar matter as well as numerous methods of data analysis.

Areas of Research:

  • Stars and their Circumstellar Media - chemically peculiar stars, stellar atmospheres, stellar winds and disks

  • Multiple Stellar Systems - eclipsing binaries, exoplanets

  • Open Clusters

  • Variable Stars - general methods of variable star data processing, pulsating stars
