TIP 24 Mar 2021 Prestigious Ignaz L. Lieben Award granted to Norbert Werner Prof. Norbert Werner, from the Department of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics, has been awarded Ignaz L. Lieben Award. The award is given by Austrian Academy of Science to scientists for outstanding achievements in the fields of molecular biology, chemistry or physics. Norbert Werner was awarded for his achievements in X-ray astronomy.
19 Mar 2021 GRBAlpha launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome on Monday 22nd! On the morning of the 22nd of March the Soyuz rocket carried nanosatellite GRBAlpha to orbit. Our colleagues were participating on its development.

TIP 20 Oct 2020 "We are testing how our modification of nanofibre filters will withstand industrial use," says David Pavliňák Our experts have devised a technique that facilitates the production of nanofibre mask filters. Now, with the help of a grant from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR), they are verifying how the plasma-treated surface of the filter handles temperature fluctuations, storage and other "pitfalls" of commercial production.

Originally from Slovakia, Norbert Werner is coming to south Moravia thanks to a special grant. He will be researching intergalactic gases here and wants to cooperate with Brno companies focused on the space industry.

After eight years at Stanford University in the United States, he moved to Loránd Eötvös University in Budapest, Hungary. He is also giving lectures in Hiroshima, Japan.

21 Apr 2020 The Faculty of Science, Masaryk University against COVID-19: production of nanofiber filters for voluntary sewn masks The cooperation between the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Physical Electronics resulted in the production of filters from nanofibrous material prepared by the electrostatic spinning method. These filters can be inserted into volunteer sewn mask and significantly increase their efficiency.
